The West Virginia Crime Fighters
The West Virginia Crime Fighters started in 1997 with a few Investigators/Detectives in Harrison County, West Virginia. The first members had monthly meetings to discuss open cases that involved more than just one community. Through the years the number of Investigators/Detectives grew from a few Harrison County agencies to a number of different agencies throughout North Central West Virginia. A good friend and active member of these Investigators and Detectives developed the patch and a website named West Virginia Crime Fighters. This group of Investigators/Detectives adopted the name and continue to date to refer themselves as the West Virginia Crime Fighters. The West Virginia Crime Fighters are over 100 strong, and meet the second Tuesday of each month to discuss multi-jurisdictional criminals

Clarksburg was named in 1778 for General George Rogers Clark and incorporated in 1785. During the Civil War, it served as a supply depot of the Union Army from 1861 to 1865. General George B. McClellan had his headquarters here in 1861 until the Battle of Bull Run. John Simpson camped here in 1764. He was the first white man in the area. Clarksburg is the birthplace of General Thomas J. Stonewall Jackson. The Northwestern Turnpike, chartered in1827, and begun in 1831, reached Clarksburg in 1836 and was macadamized from the Tygarts Valley River to Parkersburg in 1848.
