(The Mayor’s Youth Council is under the direction of Mayor Dan Thompson and Vice Mayor B.K. Vanhorn with the assistance of City Clerk Annette Wright).

The 2007-08 Clarksburg Mayor’s Youth Council consists of 39 members. The Clarksburg Mayor’s Youth Council was organized in 2004. Each year it has grown in membership. The city works with its city schools, Robert C. Byrd, Liberty, Notre Dame and Emmanuel Christian to obtain its members. The purpose of the MYC is to acknowledge youth as an important part of the community. The MYC provide an opportunity for our young leaders to learn about municipal government, give their opinions and concerns and also provides us (the city and its administration) with valuable insight into the needs of our youth. The membership is open to 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students who attend one of the city schools listed above or any home-schooled student in these grades who reside in the city limits. Meetings are held bi-monthly with various activities planned throughout the membership year. The MYC operates on a school-year basis.
