Project Isaac, a Harrison County Board of Education program, is available for students in grades 6-8.

Project Isaac is an after-school program that provides a positive learning environment.  A warm meal is provided at the beginning.  Afterwards, students begin going through different stations which focus on math, reading, enrichment and recreational activities.

Goals of the program are to:

  • Increase academic performance in basic skills with concentration on reading and math
  • Participate in enrichment activities including music, the arts, technology, math, language history and science
  • Participate in activities to improve health, wellness, social and emotional behaviors
  • Explore and develop an increased awareness of career and college options

Kristi Musser, Special Education teacher at Mountaineer Middle and Family Outreach Coordinator for Project Isaac stated, “My goal is to get as much public recognition for a program that I feel that all students can benefit from and hope that more students and parents would begin to take advantage of this great opportunity.”

The program is advertised throughout the school.  Anyone may apply and no one gets turned away.

City Manager Martin Howe spoke to the children about his aspirations to go into public administration, becoming City Manager and the ins and outs of City and Municipal Government.

Mr. Howe stated, “It has been an honor to speak with these young adults as they have provided me with a different perspective as I hope I have provided to them.”

Mountaineer Middle School is located at 2 Mountaineer Drive, Clarksburg, WV
