2019 Sidewalk Improvement Program

The City of Clarksburg is once again providing Clarksburg residents and property owners the opportunity to replace sidewalks with assistance from the city.

Under the program, residential property owners will be reimbursed for 70% of the actual cost of materials and labor only to a maximum of $1,700.  Non-residential commercial property owners or tenants will be reimbursed for 70% of the actual cost of materials and labor only to a maximum of $2,000.  Completion of both sides of a corner lot or completion of a sidewalk for multiple lots will receive 70% of actual costs of materials and labor up to a maximum of $2,500.

The purpose of the program is to provide an incentive for property owners to replace existing deteriorated walks and/or install new sidewalks in front of existing buildings where no sidewalk exists.

The City will begin accepting applications on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 through Monday, June 3, 2019.  Applications are available in the Code Enforcement Office.  Applications will be considered on a first come, first served basis as the applications are received by the Code Enforcement office.  All projects must be completed by July 31, 2019.   A property owner may submit only one application for the 2019 program.  Any resident or property owner within the corporate city limits of Clarksburg is eligible to apply.

All sidewalk projects are subject to initial, routine and final inspections by Code Enforcement Office.  Code Enforcement must do a final inspection after the work is completed.

Property owners must submit to Code Enforcement Office copies of original invoices, checks and receipts for material and labor expended for the project.  Payment will be made for cost of materials and labor up to the maximum established under the program.  Property owners must certify and provide proof of amount paid to contractor.  The sidewalk is to be constructed according to the sidewalk design specifications which can be acquired at Clarksburg City Hall Code Enforcement.
