The students of St. Mary’s Grade School will take the stage to bring the community the production of Disney’s Cinderella Kids. Cinderella Kids is the school’s 17th Spring Musical that has taken place under the eye of the school’s principal Nicole Folio.
Cinderella Kids features Isabella Delany as Cinderella. The play focuses on the schools Fifth and Sixth graders as the lead and supporting roles in the production. There are a total of six major roles and thirty supporting roles in the play.
Sixth grader Cameron Bruce talked about the fun he had while taking part in his schools theater program, “This is my last year to be in the play, and I have had a lot of fun doing the plays and being a part of the theater program”.
Grade levels Pre-K 3 through sixth grade will have various roles throughout the entire production.
The school’s Spring Musical is the school’s embellished play. The planning and preparation that goes into the Spring Musical takes the entire school community. The props are created by St. Mary’s Art Department and the school’s faculty has a major hand in the production costumes. The school also receives an outpouring show of support from their parents and the community as a whole.
St. Mary’s Grade School utilizes the theater at Liberty High School. The 2019 Spring Musical will be the school’s fourth production at the school.
“Having the opportunity to perform the play in Liberty’s theater makes it a more intimate experience for the students,” said Folio.
The technical portion of the play is ran by students of Liberty. The high school students are responsible for the play’s sound, light and all other technical aspects. The play’s director, Michelle Palmer, expressed her appreciation of Liberty High School principal Pam Knight and her students. “Without Mrs. Knight we wouldn’t be able to put on this performance. She treats our school and its students like gold. Her students are wonderful and they handle the technical aspects of the play for us”.
