Health Access is committed to providing quality health care needs to residents of Harrison and Doddridge Counties who are uninsured or on Medicaid and 18 years of age or older. Basic healthcare needs such a primary and specialty care, prescription medications, cancer screenings, vision and dental care are provided to Health Access’s patients.
Health Access provides patients quality care from a full-time Nurse Practitioner, doctors and psychologists who donate their time to provide patients with the quality healthcare they deserve. At the clinic, all primary healthcare needs can be met. Referrals to specialists are given to patients by providers at Health Access. The clinic works hand in hand with United Hospital Center to continue to provide free specialty care to those who are uninsured or on Medicaid. All specialty care services a Health Access patient receives at UHC are free of charge and the patient will never be billed. Health Access also works cohesively with other health organizations, such as the Harrison-Clarksburg Health Department to ensure patients receive comprehensive healthcare services.
Mental Health services are also provided to patients of Health Access, and all prescription medications can be provided to Health Access patients on site. Women’s healthcare, tobacco education, and diabetic education are all also offered at the clinic. In addition to the various services Health Access has to offer, they also provide their patients with dental and vision care. The clinic is currently in the process adding an additional space for a dental clinic, so dental services can be offered fulltime.
Due to Health Access catering to the uninsured and Medicaid population, it eliminates insurance barriers for service providers, allowing more time to be spent with each patient, which allows providers to have a better understanding of each patient’s health concerns. Providers at the clinic do not prescribe controlled substances and no opiates are kept at the clinic. Providers at the clinic work to understand the root of the health concerns rather than masking it with medications. The pharmacy at Health Access is made possible through donors like Mylan Pharmaceuticals, who donate over a million dollars of prescription medication a year to the clinic.
Health Access is a United Way Agency and through their campaign Health Access is funded with $80,000 a year. Donations are what helps make the clinic successful, as most of their supplies and equipment are provided through the generosity of organizations.
Health Access also helps tear down barriers that are unrelated to healthcare. They work with patients to provide transportation to appointments, and work to get those who are without homes into shelter. The staff of Health Access also plays a role in combating addiction and works with various organization to provide resources to addicts to help with recovery.
Health Access allows for walk-in visits or appointments. Appointments can be made by calling the clinic at (304) 622-2708 or stopping in. The clinic is located at 489 Washington Avenue, Clarksburg.
