The Vocal Intensity, the Robert C. Byrd Show Choir will take the stage for the West Virginia Show Choir State Championship, Saturday, March 16, 2019 during an all-day competition. Vocal Intensity is under the direction of Mady McNemar.
Vocal Intensity will be putting on a show featuring all of the work they have been performing this season. The Vocal Intensity has worked hard to clean up their performance for the show for their largest performance of the year. There will be a total of 22 Show Choirs competing in the competition. This will be the largest competition Byrd has competed in all season. Vocal Intensity will be competing in the “mixed division” as they are comprised of both male and female choir members.
Their performance will consist of fun, upbeat music that’s meant to get people moving in their seats and bring an uplifting performance to the competition. The music that will be performed by Byrd is not as mainstream as one might be used to hearing. While it is not usual for a Choir to not have a theme, Byrd’s Show Choir has grown to embrace their variety of music allowing them to own the stage.
“Even though we don’t have a theme we have still killed it all season, and we still did great despite everyone expecting us to have a theme”, said Vocal Intensity member Dravon Ash.
Vocal Intensity has participated in various competitions throughout the season such as, the Winfield Emerald Classic where they took second place, and advanced to the finals at the Capital VIP Invitational, the Cabell Midland Rhythm in Red Invitational. Byrd also hosted their own competition in February, 2019 where 11 teams throughout the state of WV and Ohio attended.
“I am so excited to go to states, Ms. Mack has helped us all grow and reach our full potential of performing”, said Vocal Intensity member, Maddie Ford.
Vocal Intensity Show Choir Auditions will take place Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 3:30p.m.-5:30p.m. in the Robert C. Byrd Choir Hall. Those who are registered students during the 2019-2020 school year are welcome to audtion.
The City of Clarksburg would like to wish RCB’s Vocal Intensity good luck at the WV Show Choir State Championship. We hope that they bring the State Grand Champions of the Mixed Division back to Clarksburg!
